Cody Simpson & Nairobi – High Forever

Australian singer & actor Cody Simpson has teamed up with Swedish pop wonders Nairobi to deliver a delicious slice of poptastic perfection!

‘HIGH FOREVER’, the first of several collaborative releases between Loki Records and Gold Fever Records can be listened to here.

Packed with fresh beats and summer vibes, ‘HIGH FOREVER’ immediately began racking up some impressive streams on Spotify with instant additions coming from New Music Friday playlists throughout Europe and Asia!

“High Forever is the perfect blend and we can’t wait to share it with the world,” T.I Jakke of NAIROBI stated in reflection of the release.

Jakke Erixson, one half of the Nairobi duo, met Cody Simpson during his early days as Top 40 record producer, and since meeting him, has always admired his sound and integrity as an artist. The two became friends, keeping in touch over the years as their careers in music grew. A successful studio session in 2019 led to two song collaborations from the Cody Simpson x Nairobi camp with High Forever being released on Erixon’s label, Gold Fever Records.

Nairobi, the Swedish pop wonder consisting of T.I. Jakke and Karl-Ola Kjellholm, deliver the perfect modern pop-pillow we all need. In the past, the duo worked with well-known artists such as Ava Max, R3hab, Shaggy or the Goo Goo Girls. In these times, Nairobi aim to give audiences the kind of carefree, joy-filled experiences that the world is craving. In case people wonder, Nairobi is indeed a homage to one of the characters from the famous Netflix series The Money Heist.

About NAIROBI

The Swedish pop wonder continues. From super producers T.I Jakke and Karl-Ola Kjellholm (Ava Max, R3hab, Enrique Iglesias, Daddy Yankee, French Montana, Shaggy, Goo Goo Dolls and many more) comes a perfect blend of Swedish melancholy and sunny California.

NAIROBI is the perfect modern pop-pillow we all need. The land of the midnight sun meets the golden coast in the bright, intoxicating sounds of new Swedish-Californian pop wonder NAIROBI. The duo offers up the kind of instant pop hits we’ve come to expect from Sweden’s music masterminds, and seamlessly blends in the eternal summer beach vibes of Southern California. Fronted by the familiar, hit-making voice of Jakke Erixson (Mike Perry, RedOne, John de Sohn, HotShade, Ten Times, etc.), NAIROBI aims to give audiences the kind of carefree, joy-filled experience that’s so needed in today’s world, and with irresistibly buoyant sounds reminiscent of Kygo, Galantis and Benny Blanco, the group accomplishes their feel-good mission in spades.

Song Inspiration

Australian triple-threat and pop sensation, Cody Simpson, teams up with new Stockholm & L.A.-based House wonder, NAIROBI, in a collaboration as sweet as the euphoric days of summer.

The inspiration for the song emerged when NAIROBI’s discovered CODY SIMPSON as being an outstanding, ideal collaborator, wanting to pair his musicianship and poetry with NAIROBI’s melancholic pop sound.

“High Forever is the perfect blend and we can’t wait to share it with the world,” T.I Jakke of NAIROBI stated in reflection of the release.

Combining forces, NAIROBI serves irresistibly buoyant sounds, while incorporating Simpson’s silky, time-tested vocabs to make their track “High Forever” an instantly intoxicating hit.

Song’s Origin Story

Jakke Erixson, one-half of the NAIROBI duo, met Cody Simpson during his early days as Top 40 record producer, and since meeting him, has always admired his sound and integrity as an artist. The two became friends, keeping in touch over the years as their careers in music grew. In 2019, Erixson started his own boutique record label, Gold Fever Records, with Karl-ola Kjellholm and Philip Wareborn. After the label’s launch, he reached out to Simpson to collaborate on new music and a short while later, the two were in the studio together. The successful studio session led to two song collaborations from the Cody Simpson X NAIROBI camp, the first of which is expected to end up on Simpson’s artist project, while the second track, “HIGH FOREVER,” has been planned for release on Erixson’s label, Gold Fever Records.

Shortly after recording “HIGH FOREVER,” Erixson played the song for Zack Dekkaki, President of The Loki Group, who immediately became excited by the track’s potential. From there, Dekkaki offered to partner Loki Records, a subsidiary of The Loki Group, with Gold Fever to co-release and promote the song globally. As a boutique label, Gold Fever saw tremendous opportunity in the partnership and its ability to expand the reach of this release to an international audience with the help of Loki Records’ label services. “HIGH FOREVER” is speculated to be the first of several collaborative releases between Loki Records and Gold Fever Records.

Gracie Abrams – Brush Fire

Acclaimed songwriter Gracie Abrams has shared her latest single, a poignant and powerful track called “Brush Fire”. Released as a gift to her fans, the stark but spellbinding song is accompanied by a live version of an equally enthralling video from the 21-yearold artist. “Brush Fire” is available now at all digital retailers via Interscope Records.

Co-written by Abrams with Tobias Jesso Jr and Blake Slatkin, “Brush Fire” centres on the gently commanding vocal work and intimate storytelling Abrams recently brought to her debut project minor. With Slatkin also serving as the track’s producer, the song unfolds in a sparse arrangement of dreamy keyboard tones as Abrams reflects on infatuation and loss, gracefully threading “Brush Fire” with her intricate melodies and delicate poetry (e.g., “Your words hit me like a hard rain in L.A.”).

Directed by Joseph Armario, the live performance video for “Brush Fire” perfectly captures the song’s mood of quiet desolation. To that end, the visual finds Abrams seated on the floor of an empty theater, with Jesso positioned behind his keyboard many feet away. Intermittently brightened by flashes of colour and light, the video again reveals Abrams’s rare power to fill vast spaces with her understated yet impactful expression.

Released in July, minor features Abrams’s beloved singles “21,” “I miss you, I’m sorry,” and “Long Sleeves.” The seven-song project drew praise from outlets like Ones To Watch, who noted that “Abrams encourages her listeners to acknowledge every ugly feeling that bubbles up, revel in it, and accept that it’s okay to feel this way.” Executive-produced by Slatkin, minor also found Abrams collaborating with producer/songwriters like Joel Little, Benny Blanco, Jim-E Stack, Sarah Aarons, and Caroline Pennell.

Named an artist to watch by Pigeons & Planes, Fader, and iD – and crowned one of seven breakout female musicians by Vogue UK – Abrams considers herself a songwriter, first and foremost. After writing her first song at the age of eight, she went on to earn a devoted following on the strength of her indelibly personal lyrics and magnetic vocal delivery. Through the years, Abrams shared homespun clips of her songs on social media, amassing over 390k followers on Instagram before she’d even released her first track. In October 2019, Abrams made her official debut with the intensely vulnerable song “Mean It.”

Abrams recently wrapped up a worldwide virtual tour performing songs from minor for audiences in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Berlin, Sydney, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, United Kingdom, France and Malaysia.

Melodownz – Big Deals (ft. Diggy Dupe)

New Zealand rapper MELODOWNZ has shared ‘Big Deals’ featuring Diggy Dupé, the Polynesian wordsmith’s second single of the year following ‘Fine’.

While his last cutthroat collaboration, 2019’s ‘No Mercy’ saw MELODOWNZ barring out alongside Florida rap weapon Denzel Curry – on ‘Big Deals’ the MC recruits Auckland-based Niuean rapper Diggy Dupé for a dominant community celebration. Longtime friends and collaborators, MELODOWNZ and Diggy Dupé first appeared on a song together back in 2016, and since have both become leading figures in New Zealand’s hip hop landscape. With MELODOWNZ repping Avondale and Diggy claiming Grey Lynn, on ‘Big Deals’ two respective stomping grounds collide to create a hard-hitting hood anthem.

Opening with a slinky guitar melody loop, pounding drums propel ‘Big Deals’ into gritty street territory as Melo introduces his turf with a spirited holler on the snappy hook, “Auckland city born and raised, 828 with a smile on my face / big deals get done you get none, big deals get done you get none”. Diggy Dupé’s gruff tone commands on the second verse before both rappers unite on the final hook; their spirited chant an uproar for the city that raised them and the respective hustles within it. Released in tow with a music video directed by Auckland visionary Connor Pritchard, MELODOWNZ and Diggy Dupé take viewers on a tour of the streets that symbolize their identities and upbringings in the ‘Big Deals’ visual, in the company of their day one crews.

“Lately I’ve been really inspired and impressed with Polynesian rap in NZ and AUS. Seeing other polys winning is really empowering and pushes me to do the same. That’s where the energy from the song comes from, and being proud of my community and the hood that raised me,” MELODOWNZ says. “My Uso is a top salesman at a popular car dealership in Auckland, and when he seals a deal I used to say “BIG DEALS GET DONE” as a joke. I say the same thing with my manager, and to a lot of the bros still trapping and what not.

Diggy’s one of my day ones in this music shit, even before the music, I grew up with a few of his cousins, so we’ve been team since way back. Him being from Central, Arch Hill / Grey Lynn and me being from West Auckland / Avondale, I knew our verses would be the perfect contrast for the song.”

‘Big Deals’ follows MELODOWNZ recent nomination for Best New Act at the 2020 Aotearoa Music Awards. About to embark on an extensive run of summer festival shows across New Zealand, ‘Big Deals’ is another taste of what MELODOWNZ has been cooking up this year as he works towards his debut album in 2021.
