MacKenzie Porter – These Days

Singer-songwriter MacKenzie Porter is a rising Country talent whose sound knows no borders. Signed to Big Loud Records, Porter is surging now with an arsenal of new music produced by Joey Moi (Jake Owen, Morgan Wallen).

Since moving to Nashville in 2014 from her native Canada, she’s developed a radiant Country style which threads the needle between traditional heart and modern energy, often collaborating with songwriting mainstays like Nicolle Galyon, Craig Wiseman, Natalie Hemby, and Tommy English.

Her “mesmerizing vocals and hook-driven songs” (Billboard) have sparked a list of headline-worthy accolades, including multiple Canadian Country Music Award nominations – 4X Female Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Fans’ Choice – as well as a previous JUNO Award nomination for Country Album of the Year. Making her mark, Porter became the first female artist to have three back-to-back #1 singles at Canadian Country radio in 22 years with “About You” “These Days” and “Seeing Other People” in early 2020, following Shania Twain in 1998.

She’s toured extensively on her own, sharing the stage with Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Chris Lane, Blake Shelton and Dallas Smith, and also co-starred in the Netflix series, “Travelers.”

She oozes originality and produces genre-bending electronic works, striking a sharp balance between bass-heavy and minimal tech compositions. Her talent has attracted the attention of stars such as Skrillex and Deadmau5 and has released several EP’s under both of their labels.

Ritt Momney – Not Around

Rising 20 year old indie artist Ritt Momney kicks off 2020 with new single ‘Not Around’.

The track was co-written and produced by Dayglow who Momney was meant to tour with last year.

This is the first taste of original music from Momney since his critically acclaimed 2019 debut album “Her and All Her Friends”, written solely by himself after his whole band left him as a solo artist to go on a Mormon mission and his girlfriend at the time moved away for college. The album covers themes of growing up, loss and lonelieness.

During the depths of COVID-19 last year, Momney released a cover of Corinne Railey Bae’s iconic ‘Put Your Records On’ that saw viral success, particularly in Australia where it peaked top ten on the ARIA Singles Chart and is now ceritifed Platinum. The cover was a way of Momney dealing with the global situation and hoping to inject some happiness into the world whilst he worked on his second album.

Andrew Jannakos – Gone Too Soon

RCA Nashville’s new signing Andrew Jannakos releases his debut single ‘Gone Too Soon’ to radio
Upon the official release of “Gone Too Soon” to streaming platforms and digital retailers in September 2020, Jannakos debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artist Chart, while the track debuted at #12 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and within the Hot 100. “Gone Too Soon” has amassed over 15 million streams to date and continues to receive a strong response from listeners.
Flowery Branch, Georgia native Andrew Jannakos grew up in a small-town neighborhood where barbecue parties and backyard soccer games were everyday events. Today, that sense of community translates to his nearly one million followers across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Since Jannakos first teased his breakout single, “Gone Too Soon,” in a viral clip now viewed over ten million times, that community is only getting stronger.
“It’s been so amazing seeing it all happen,” Jannakos says of his social and streaming success. “Especially when I first posted, being an independent artist at the time. One moment no one knows who you are, and then something goes viral. Then the numbers keep going up, and you realize it’s something more.”
Many of Jannakos’ initial followers knew him for his illustrious run on season 16 of NBC’s The Voice, but it wasn’t until a year later, in July 2020, that his then-girlfriend (now wife) posted a video of him cooking dinner while singing along to “Gone Too Soon” to his TikTok and took his social stardom to new heights. The video racked up 250K likes by the next morning.
But there’s much more to the newcomer’s music than viral appeal – his singing and songwriting come from a deep love for country music, as well as his family’s roots in the genre.

CLOVES – Sicko

Australian artist CLOVES (aka Kaity Dunstan) unveils her brand-new single entitled “Sicko” along with the music video. “Sicko” was co-written and co-produced by Hudson Mohawke and is the second single to be released off of her upcoming sophomore album due out later this year. The music video, directed by Daniel Carberry & Carley Cussen, features an incredible performance by Kaity as she battles between two different versions of herself. The track is available now at all digital retail providers via Interscope Records.

CLOVES says about the song, “‘Sicko’ is my best way of painting the tunnel vision, panic scramble of social anxiety. It’s like a living, breathing second personality in your brain. One which makes you question everything you do and say in social situations, worried that others don’t like you for it. It’s exhausting, not only keeping you from enjoying the present but also fucks with your relationships”

CLOVES’s upcoming sophomore album explores the complexities of mental health, stemming from her own experiences, as they relate to anxiety, depression, and excessive overthinking. Through the album, Kaity creates an aesthetic that encapsulates the world within her own mind with each track on the album representing a different trigger point and stream of consciousness as to how a person can spiral within themselves. Recorded everywhere from Abbey Road to Elmfield Road, Kaity’s glitchy pop darkness, which she calls “dystopian, introverted sci-fi pop,” translates moods, textures and ideas into sound to make the listener resonate with the emotions she was feeling as she created the music for the album.

About CLOVES

Born Kaity Dunstan in Melbourne, music always provided solace for her. She spent all of her time writing songs and performing in bands. Relocating to London at 18-years-old, she introduced herself as CLOVES stating, “As a very introverted person creating somewhat of a persona for myself felt like the most free way to fully express myself without my tendency to over analyze myself kicking in, it felt safe.” The single “Don’t Forget About Me” clocked over 69.24 million Spotify streams as she graced the stages of Coachella, Lollapalooza, and beyond. Her first full-length album, One Big Nothing, followed in 2018. Kaity made her late-night television debut with a performance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, while The Line of Best Fit called One Big Nothing, “an all-encompassing, fearless record that pushes a sincere melancholia to the forefront.” CLOVES has also landed syncs in Me Before You and Vampire Diaries and today, has garnered over 250 million streams worldwide.

Ellery Cohen – Waiting

Ellery Cohen is one of many artists who spent most of 2020 in the world’s most stringent lockdown. The Melbourne-based singer/songwriter, who uses music therapy in his line of disability support service work, has emerged with a fresh perspective and some seriously great pop, releasing his new song “Waiting” today.

Somewhat ironically, the song was written about a girl he met whilst travelling Vietnam – a trip he managed to get in before the world’s borders were slammed shut. The song explores the notion of a love you can’t have until the journey of self-discovery feels accomplished.

“I wrote this song about a girl I met in Vietnam while travelling, she told me that she had left her boyfriend and her life for a year, leaving her life behind. I thought it was so interesting and I wrote a song about what she would say to her boyfriend. It’s a song about love and complexity of relationship and how life can be sometimes. She asks the question ‘will you be waiting”.

Ellery began releasing pop music in 2018, and has since been played on some of Australia’s most renowned mainstream radio stations. He has even stopped in his tracks as he heard himself through the speakers while browsing in Kmart and Target.

Known for his heart-on-sleeve songwriting, “Waiting” is some of Ellery’s most impressive writing to date – a super catchy pop song – fun and upbeat with a deep meaning under its surface.

The Killers – C’est La Vie

The Killers’ latest album, the internationally lauded Imploding The Mirage, has been given the Deluxe treatment and is released worldwide today on Island Records. The Deluxe collection comes with live, stripped down versions of beloved songs “Blowback” and “Caution,” as well as a brand new song, “C’est La Vie”, which is a brilliant addition to an already-perfect album.

Imploding The Mirage, The Killers’ sixth studio album and the follow up to 2017’s chart topping Wonderful Wonderful, spawned a monster in first single “Caution ” which reached #1 of both the Alternative and Triple A radio charts. With their headlining stadium show shelved due to the pandemic, the band took “Caution” and the following singles – “Dying Breed,” “Fire In Bone” and “My Own Soul’s Warning” – to multiple TV shows around the world.

Imploding The Mirage – produced by the band in conjunction with Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado of Foxygen – was recorded in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Park City, UT. It is the first Killers album to be written and recorded since leaving their hometown of Las Vegas, NV. Imploding The Mirage also features a brilliant array of collaborators, another first for the band who have typically kept guest spots on their albums to a minimum. The list of featured artists includes Lindsey Buckingham, kd lang, Weyes Blood, Adam Granduciel (War On Drugs), Blake Mills, and Lucius.

Since the release of their 2004 debut, Hot Fuss, The Killers have sold 28 million albums, headlined stadiums and festivals around the world and won dozens of accolades globally, cementing their continued reign as America’s heartland heroes. Influences include Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel, as well as Killers’ touchstones like Bruce Springsteen and New Order. Throughout it all, Flowers remains a wholly singular songwriter.

Raissa – Shades On

Multidisciplinary artist, RAISSA has released her latest single ‘SHADES ON’ VIA Mark Ronson’s Zelig Records/Columbia Records.
The track is a deep and moody alt-pop track. Filled with enigmatic sounds and RAISSA’s steady yet bold vocals, the track will have you in a trance.
RAISSA’s fascination with sci-fi and fantasy aesthetics is definitely symbolised in the song.
‘SHADES ON’ is from RAISSA’s upcoming debut EP HEROGIRL, which will be released later this year.
RAISSA says “This song was a freestyle, a tongue in cheek moment about feeling like a boss and letting everyone know…”
HEROGIRL tells the narrative of a hero’s journey; the protagonist crosses into another realm learning a critical lesson that can be applied in the normal world. RAISSA is positioned as the hero of the story, as she explores finding strength in what you love, rather than focusing on what makes you miserable.

Kolby Knickerbocker – Over and Over

A modern take on the 50’s doowop of Otis Redding and Ben King, featuring powerful choir sounds and moving strings, “Over and Over” is a song dedicated to his wife as a reminder that his love will not waiver. Mixed by Sean Moffitt (Mat Kearney, Josh Groban, Ingrid Michaelson), it’s the title track off the upcoming mixed EP due out April 2. Listen at 2:46 for the full choir sound!
Commitment. Stability. Love. A testament that no matter how difficult it gets, no matter how strong the emotion, no matter the challenge, he’ll always be there. That’s the message Knickerbocker wanted to send to his wife in the song, “Over and Over.” To reinforce the message, he recorded 15 separate vocal parts to recreate a gospel choir effect. The result is intimate, raw, and powerful.

“Stunning compositions…really great songwriting…really great stuff!”

Glass Animals – Heat Waves

GLASS ANIMALS TAKE OUT TOP SPOT IN TRIPLE J’S HOTTEST 100 WITH ‘HEAT WAVES’

UK psych-pop outfit Glass Animals have taken out top spot in Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown with their hit single ‘Heat Waves’. One of the band’s three entries in the countdown, including Tangerine (#18) and Your Love (#51), it also marks the first time the band has reached top 10 in the countdown.

More than 6 months after the tracks release, it continues to hit new peaks across all charts. ‘Heat Waves’ has become the groups highest charting ARIA single, growing to #11 last week, overtaking the bands 2014 hit ‘Gooey’. ‘Heat Waves’ has also hit new chart peaks on Spotify, climbing to #2, and Apple, hitting #1.

Bursting with all the wonderful tricks that we have come to expect from Glass Animals’ frontman and producer Dave Bayley, ‘Heat Waves’ is an introspective summer hit. A scorching, bass-heavy pop-trip, ‘Heat Waves’ is a distorted Glass Animals love song, exploring how relationships can blur your personality and change you in ways you don’t realise until you take a step back.

The track is taken from ‘Dreamland’, the band’s most successful album to-date which peaked at #6 on the ARIA Albums Charts. Fundamentally a nostalgic memoir of his life so far, ‘Dreamland’ finds Bayley covering expansive and difficult ground. As a result, the album is packed full of intensely sensitive and personal experiences, none more emotional than when the bands drummer Joe Seaward was involved in a bike accident in July 2018 which threatened his life, and that of Glass Animals altogether. Born at a time of immense confusion and uncertainty for the band, it’s an album that arrived at the perfect time in 2020
