Corrj – Lost In My Mind

Australian singer, songwriter, and producer Corrj presents his debut single ‘Lost In My Mind’, as featured on his upcoming concept album. The album is themed around the timeline of a relationship, with ‘Lost In My Mind’ being described as “arrogant, confident, and catchy; representing what being single feels like”.

Born in Australia, Corrj loves experimenting with new sounds, breaking the mould by working on the edge of genres thanks to an upbringing that exposed him to Mozart, Fall Out Boy, John Mayer, and everything in between.

“I want to create music that enhances your emotions, with songs for when the night is about to become something special; when you’ve got a drink in one hand and the other hand just wants to move with the vibe.”

GARY ALLAN RELEASES NEW ALBUM “RUTHLESS”

Country star Gary Allan has released his long-awaited new album, Ruthless, listen here. The California native marks his return to the spotlight with a stunning 13 track album produced by Mark Wright, Tony Brown, Greg Droman, Jay Joyce, and Allan himself. The songwriting shines, setting the tone for a body of work that feels engaging and fresh. The superb instrumentation is a stand-out of the record which adds a layer of complexity and appeal, drawing from Allan’s deep-rooted influences of the ’80s and ’90s. Allan’s unique storytelling coupled with his artistic nature masterfully ties the project together into his best work to date.

“This is a montage of everything I have done since my last album,” Allan says of Ruthless. “It’s what I love. I remain influenced by the ’90s — as well as by the ’80s. Twenty-six tracks were cut for this album. Then I went back to the studio and recorded three or four more tracks. Then I returned for two more. From each of these many sessions, I stripped out the cool stuff that I wanted on the record.”

ABOUT GARY ALLAN

With the allure of a modern-day outlaw, Gary Allan has won over fans, peers and critics with his signature blend of smoldering vocals, rebellious lyrics and raucous live performances. While becoming a force on the country music scene, Allan has remained true to his artistic voice each step of the way. In 2016 Allan re-signed with Universal Music Group Nashville, the label home for the entirety of his twenty-four year career. His last album, Set You Free, topped the all-genre Billboard 200, a career first for Allan. The album also made its debut at the top of the Billboard Country Album chart (for the fourth time in a row) and produced his fifth #1 US country radio chart topper with “Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain).” The California native released his first album, Used Heart for Sale, in 1996 and since then has released eight additional studio albums selling over 8 million albums, been certified platinum on three back-to-back albums, and been certified gold five times. Allan has five No. 1 hits at country radio, fourteen Top 10 hits to his credit and amassed over 2.6 billion total streams. His album Smoke Rings in the Dark recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with the release of his first ever vinyl appearance. He’s described as “dark and dreamy” in Entertainment Weekly, “soulful and rough around the edges” in Playboyand deemed a “maverick” by Rolling Stone. He has sold out venues as a headliner from NY to LA, appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Live with Kelly and Michael and Jimmy Kimmel Live. He has also landed on the covers of Country Weekly, Pollstar and People magazine.

René Le Feuvre – Euphoria

Rising pop/folk singer-songwriter, Gold Coast based René Le Feuvre has released a brand new song in follow up to his recent single ‘Little Boy’. ‘Euphoria’ is a vibrant and inspiring upbeat track this is impossible not to sing along to. A warm vocal tone with flavours of 80’s pop production gives a unique and interesting sound that builds throughout the song.

“I can’t wait to release Euphoria! It’s my favourite song to date because it reminds me of so many memories with my friends. Moving out of a small country town in North Queensland to the Gold Coast so young was difficult and it took me a while to find good friends. I kinda didn’t fit in anywhere, but I remember the exact moment of realisation I had found my people. It’s so simple but defining … I was driving next to my mate with the windows down listening to ‘Dancing In The Moonlight’ by Toploader which I actually mention in the second verse. It was just after I had my car stolen and my friend had lent me her car … I had this overwhelming realisation of just how amazing my friends were and wanted to document it in a song so I could come back to it. I struggled with the bridge so I ask my housemate Joshua Bell (electronic/pop artist Saint Barae) to help me and we finished the song together. I then produced the song with Gold Coast producer Jared Adlam. We also recorded a stripped back version as well which will come out after the main track” René said.

Crafting his organic sound by busking on the streets of North Queensland, Rene’s style is nothing but heartfelt and authentic. With a similar tone to Passenger and Ed Sheeran, the young artist’s storytelling style of writing has already been recognised by industry professionals, taking out the Top 3 spot in Nashville’s Rising Song Competition in 2019 and a Top 40 Nomination in the prestigious Vanda and Young Competition in 2021.

After relocating from North Queensland to pursue a career in AFL with the Gold Coast Suns, René instead found his true passion in music after performing on The Voice Australia in 2018 where he was coached by Boy George.

2020 would have seen René embark on his most ambitious outing yet securing two showcases for the 2020 SXSW Music Festival and Conference in Austin Texas. Unfortunately, this career defining opportunity was lost due to the Covid-19 pandemic and René returned to his Northern Queensland home to create his most honest and fully realised material yet.

This period of unprecedented times was documented in his debut EP ‘Watch Me Fall’ which was supported by a sold out headline show at Gold Coast’s iconic Miami Marketta.

2021 continues to be a defining year for René as he transitions in his sound and branding. Earlier this year, René released catchy track ‘Little Boy’ and there are more releases to follow as he prepares for his new EP. René has been signed to Checked Label Services / Kobalt Music Publishing for global representation.

The Whitlams – (You’re Making Me Feel Like I’m) 50 Again

The Whitlams’ new single from their forthcoming album is the rollicking three-minute “(You’re Making Me Feel Like I’m) 50 Again” – a reflection on life and love that will shave years off your age. From the playful Van Halen keyboard stabs and the 70s guitar hooks to the chorus lyrics, this is The Whitlams at their rocking and playful best.

They are known for their hugely successful ballads, but The Whitlams also have a high-energy side which has made them one of Australia’s most successful live acts. The upcoming 46 show national tour in August and September is nearly sold out (7th show in Melbourne, and 8th show in Brisbane on sale now).

“(You’re Making Me Feel Like I’m) 50 Again” immediately takes its place next to their light-hearted, feel-good classics “I Make Hamburgers”, “Thank You (for loving me at my worst)” and “You Sound Like Louis Burdett”. Whimsy, with romance and cynicism included, of course.

The track was recorded in Byron Bay and Sydney by Daniel Denholm (“Blow Up the Pokies”) and mixed in Austin, Texas by Tim Palmer.

Where did the Name Radio 16 Come From?

A number of people ask us where the name Radio 16 comes from. Back when Radio 16 first got going it was originally intended to be a network of stations covering various regional areas and Sydney on 1611 am, hence “16”.

During discussions for the lease of these frequencies we did some research and realized that simply no one listens to off band stations primarily because they are plainly not on the broadcast band and receivable by the majority of radio’s. Whilst this might seem like common sense there were all sorts of urban myths thrown at us about pushing the dial to the end and the 1% of radio’s that go up that far. Every test we did all we could hear was electrical noise from every surrounding electronic device (like the computer in every home!), it seems AM wants to be be bang on the dial and if its not forget it.

Asking people about these “ghost” stations that their owners had talked up was just met with blank stares. We looked at the wealth of commercially available data demonstrating the sharp decline in AM listening since the 1970’s and realized why. We decided running such stations would just be a waste of electricity.

Not to be disheartened we compared the concept of internet only broadcasting and data like the $4 Million “Enduring concepts Communications and media in Australia” report prepared by the ACMA and it became clear that Australians were looking to the Internet for their media almost exclusively.

Deciding we wanted people to actual listen to us we opted for the Internet! (a non-brainer). We liked the name “Radio 16” so decided to keep it.

Radio 16 has become the name of true innovation in the Hunter Region being the first station to show real time listening figures not based on presenters or owners talking up who is actually listening; but computer accurate logs of exactly who listened and when.

Inspired by a new era of music and songwriting, The Thing About Us showcases Beks’ innate ability to craft catchy pop hooks.

“I wrote this with my friends Cam Nacson (Sad Boii) and Tamika Nacson (Xira) during a songwriting session in October 2020. Andrew Swift – The Art of Letting Go

Finding improbable beauty in the more difficult aspects of love – transcendent moments of bliss giving way to overwhelming confusion, disappointment, and loss – two-time Golden Guitar-winning songsmith Andrew Swift delivers a stunning document of heartache with expansive sophomore album The Art of Letting Go.

“These are common things that people have had happen and feel,” Swift says of the guiding thematic thread that binds The Art of Letting Go together. As he explains, shared experience of a very personal and all too familiar hurt inspired the first entry in the album’s songbook.

“I had my heart broken a few years ago, and I then had to call it off with someone else knowing I’d be doing the exact same thing to them,” Swift relates. “Phil Barton and I bonded over that and wrote ‘Never Meant to Break Your Heart’.”

Produced by the inimitable Matt Fell (Sara Storer, Shane Nicholson, Fanny Lumsden), The Art of Letting Go found Swift partnering with a host of songwriting luminaries, from the Wolfe Brothers, to Phil Barton (Lee Brice, Eli Young Band), Sinead Burgess, Jay O’Shea, Margaret Valentine, Brian Maher (Taylor Swift), and Kevin Mac (George Jones, Zac Brown Band).

“Matt’s really good at finding what the song needs,” Swift relates. “The beauty of working with a lot of different co-writers was that we did get a lot of flavour.”

Joining Swift on the album was a host of stellar players drawn from both Australia and Nashville: Josh Schuberth (Josh Pyke) on drums, Matt Fell, Ollie Thorpe on guitar, Tim Crouch (Alan Jackson, Jim Lauderdale) on fiddle, mandolin, and banjo; Rob McNelly (Miranda Lambert) on lead guitar, Sam Hawksley (Adam Brand), Pete Cornelius, Dan Biederman (Adam Eckersley Band), Andy Schrav, and Will Kimbrough (Emmylou Harris) on mandolin.

The Art of Letting Go finds Swift deploying an array of rich sonic textures, building on and expanding the sounds that made incomparable debut Call Out for the Cavalry a breakout success.

The first two singles lifted from The Art of Letting Go, ‘Never Meant To Break Your Heart’ and ‘Right On Down’, peaked at the No.4 and No.9 spots on the Country Music National AirPlay chart respectively, while third single ‘Head Full of Honey’ also cracked the Top 10 – delivering Swift his third, fourth, and fifth Top 10 singles in the past three years.

Since landing as a Toyota Starmaker grand-finalist in 2017, Andrew Swift has fast established himself as a leading light in the Australian country scene. Debut outing Call Out for the Cavalry (2018) landed at No.1 on the ARIA Australian Country Albums Chart, and spawned a string of towering singles including ‘Runaway Train’, ‘King of the Sky’, and ‘Fire & Ice’ (featuring Catherine Britt). Call Out for the Cavalry netted Swift two Golden Guitars at the 2019 CMAA Awards – for Qantas New Talent of the Year and Alternative Country Album of the Year.

Swift has been described as, “…an Australian songwriting heavyweight – with a powerfully evocative voice to match” by Country Update, and was recently signed to ABC Music.

Living out of his beloved tiny caravan, Swift has made it his life’s work to tour and perform full time, thrilling crowds in packed venues across the country. The tireless artist has toured with the Wolfe Brothers, Shannon Noll, and Felicity Urquhart, and has staged his own wildly successful Caravan Park Country Music Showcase tour. A constant visitor to Gundagai, Swift was named as the official ambassador of the iconic Dog on The Tuckerbox in 2019.

The Art of Letting Go finds Andrew Swift at the peak of his powers. Showcasing the singer’s soaring vocal, ‘Courting Calamity’ is carried on an updraft of swelling heartland rock guitars, as Swift courts disaster in the arms of a dangerous yet irresistible new love. The soulful ‘Never Meant to Break Your Heart’ charts the exquisite agony of romantic regret, before ‘Head Full of Honey’ offers up an earthy, rollicking ode to lovesickness peppered with mandolin and fiddle.

The beating heart of the album, title track ‘The Art of Letting Go’ is a glorious, heartworn torch song, while there’s an irresistible locomotive country-pop jaunt in ‘Right On Down’, a delicate hymn to the healing power of friendship in times of trouble in ‘One Breath at a Time’, and a stoned and booze-addled waltz in the languorous ‘She Loves to Get High’.

Glorious country-pop tune ‘Say the Word’ (Featuring Cass Hopetoun) couples summery sounds with illicit longing, setting the stage for soulful, slinky love song ‘Good Kind of Giving In’. ‘Taking the Blame’ is a heartsick, world-weary sway, before Swift reflects on the challenges of the past year in the meditative ‘Holding My Tongue’.

A powerful document of love, longing, and loss, The Art of Letting Go is Andrew Swift at his evocative, expressive best.

Valley – SOCIETY

On the heels of their explosive track, “Like 1999”, today JUNO nominated, alternative-pop band, Valley share their new song “SOCIETY” with new label partner Capitol Records and Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Valley – comprised of Rob Laska, Karah James, Mickey Brandolino and Alex DiMauro – have spent the past two years developing organic buzz through a personal and intimate connection with their fans.

“SOCIETY” hinges on a hummable clean guitar riff, its head-bopping beat thumps in the background as Valley gleefully nod to “You Get What You Give” by The New Radicals and “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus. Laska comments, “To us, both those songs have such an uplifting chorus but lyrically deal with some frustration with the world / pop culture and just not letting it get you down. They both lyrically touch on not following the rules just because you’re told to. Trusting your own beliefs and making your own decisions.” If TikTok happened in ’98, it might sound like this, underpinned by dancefloor-ready piano, the track rides this momentum towards the sweeping and shimmering hook. On the song’s meaning, Laska explains, “‘SOCIETY’ tells a story of how our career can sometimes feel. We exist within an ever-changing creative industry full of opinions and music machines making everything go round. At times, what you truly have to say as an artist can feel diminished or not as important when it comes to the context of making a product or something that people will label as sellable and listenable. At the end of the day, SOCIETY is Valley accepting the terms and conditions of our identity, songs and career, the fact that we’ll never be able to please everyone but also coming to terms that no matter what the public considers to be a “hit”, we tell ourselves we’re always going to follow our own artistic arrow.”

“SOCIETY” follows Valley’s unanticipated release earlier this year, “Like 1999.” It’s genesis traces back to a TikTok post that featured the chorus of an unreleased song. In only a few short days, the TikTok had over 700,000 views and over 100,000 likes with Johnny Orlando and JESSIA posting duets of the song on their own accounts. Valley rushed to finish “Like 1999” in under 48 hours for fans and the song went on to inspire thousands of creates and eclipse over 100 million streams while breaking boarders, appearing on viral charts in the U.S., Philippines, Korea, Japan and more.

After an unprecedented year for live music, Valley are excited to reconnect with their fans to perform across North America. The band are gearing up to play Wunderbus Festival in Columbus, OH and Bottlerock Festival in Napa Valley, CA at the end of the summer and then joining COIN on a 17-date North American tour this fall including a show in Vancouver, BC. See full list of tour dates below, tickets available on Valley’s website.

ABOUT VALLEY

Valley put together alternative pop with the care, adventurousness, and personal touch of a handmade burned CD. Cycling through moods like your favorite throwback Pinterest board, the Toronto quartet amplify sticky hooks through eloquent songcraft that’s cognizant of what came before, yet ready for the future. In 2016, Valley formed by accident when a local studio double booked them. During high school, Mike and Karah played in one band, while Rob and Alex played in another. They introduced themselves with self-written, self-produced releases, including the EP This Room Is White (2016), the full-length debut MAYBE (2019) and their last EP sucks to see you doing better (2020). They joined Lennon Stella and The Band CAMINO on sold out tours across North America and even picked up a 2020 JUNO Award nomination in the category of “Breakthrough Group of the Year.”
